This picture (taken spring 2007) shows a portion of our outdoor kennel/yard area. During winter and/or drought years, there may not be as much green grass. Yards and kennels are cleaned daily. Even though Goldens don't mind getting dirty when they play (actually most like it), they do need a clean, dry place to rest. 

In the summer, we use timed water mister lines, barn fans, and kiddie pools (in addition to shady areas) to help keep the dogs comfortable. Goldens will try to shed their heavy undercoats when it gets warm and should be groomed (brushed out) for the summer. Any mats and hair balls should be carefully trimmed.

In freezing weather, outdoor Goldens may need water bowl warmers, weather-resistant heated dog mats and/or dog house heaters (like 'Hound Heater' that uses a bulb), in addition to a dry dog house.

The breed originated in Scottland in the 1800's. It originally developed from crossing Yellow Retriever with Tweed Water Spaniel. Later integration of the Irish Setter and Bloodhound produced the retriever known today.  Coat colors vary from very light to dark golden. With pups, we guess their adult coat color based on their ear color.

Golden pups are sold with limited American Kennel Club registration to owners who plan to spay or neuter (encouraged to reduce cancer risks). Ask about the availability of full registration which includes breeding rights. AKC registration (as of 2011) includes your dog's name in a frameable certificate, a free sixty-day trial of AKC's pet healthcare plan, a certificate for a free vet visit, and a free puppy handbook.

Visits and Deposits
Visits are by appointment only. Please call if you are running late as some appointments are close together. Please call if you need to cancel so it can be scheduled for another. A deposit may be paid in person or through paypal to hold a pup for pick up. The pup will receive an identifying collar and you will receive a receipt. The deposit will be refunded if the pup doesn't pass a vet check prior to pick up. 
Our Puppy Purchase Agreement
Includes the purchase receipt, the registration information, a written health guarantee to six months of age covering serious genetic defect, vaccine and worming record, and other important information regarding the sale and care of the pup. Each litter is vet checked (including fecal exam), received first vaccine, and wormed to sale. Buyers should obtain their vet's approval within 48 hours of pick up. 
About Us
We are located in NE Georgia. We are not a large-breeding kennel, and any puppies we offer are from our own family pets. The occasional litter helps contribute to their ongoing care and kennel expenses. We are, however, licensed and inspected to sell pups by the Georgia Department of Agriculture. We also bring a vet into our kennel at least once per year to discuss improvements and to vaccinate. We are proud to be able to provide Goldens to families who will enjoy them and appreciate them as much as we do. Overseeing the proper care, the viewings, and the selling of the pups is a time-consuming venture. 100% effort is necessary for the best outcome of the mother and litter! Satisfaction comes when the pups settle happily in their new homes, and the mother is recovering well. That's when we feel it is a win-win situation! A Little About Our Family Dogs
Our dogs vary in age from elderly to youngsters. To offer pups affordable to most families, we try for an annual litter of healthy 'pet' quality puppies as well as one from champion bloodlines. The parents are chosen for good health and temperament. They do not show signs of (nor have been treated for) any hereditary diseases. We limit breeding attempts to help keep the litter to a reasonable size and to help reduce premature birth.  This is in the best interest of the dam. Most of the time this works, but occasionally we miss a chance of pregnancy by only a day or so. We don't spend extra on vet costs to confirm pregnancies as this adds to the litter costs. We can visually confirm a pregnancy about a month after the last mating attempt. It takes a little longer for a very small litter. As years pass, breeders retire and younger breeders may take their place. The litter 'mom' is shown on the litter page, and additional information about the litter parents is available upon request. Our dogs have the sweet nature that is typical of Goldens. They do not "worry" in stormy weather, and most like a wet yard and splashing in mud puddles. Youngsters occasionally bark at birds and rabbits, but the majority rarely bark except to announce intruders or visitors.

Goldens make JOYFUL companions!
The American Kennel Club describes the Golden Retriever breed as one of the most popular breeds in the U.S. of the top 50 pure breeds. It is inherently eager to please. It is a sturdy breed that enjoys water and outdoor activities. It is intelligent, quick to learn, and dedicated. Its working ability and personality makes it perfect as a guide, hunting companion, and assistance, search, and rescue dog. Some are chosen for show qualities and are trained for competitions. Most are chosen as family companions due to their 'soft mouth', and their playful, gentle, and patient nature.
Warning: Unfortunately there are dishonest people taking advantage by supposedly 're-selling' a 'purebred' puppy they purchased from a reputable breeder, telling people it just wasn't working out. They are actually picking up puppies that look enough like purebreds from places like rescue centers and are pulling breeders' names off the internet and using the breeders' names as their references for the 'resales'. They usually choose to drop names of out-of-state breeders thinking you won't check up on them. Buyers then take them at their word, pay cash and then later when they follow up with the supposed breeder, they find out the information is a lie and the puppy is not a purebred, or they take it in for a vet check and the vet can see that it is not purebred. I understand that there is a family in Miami Florida doing this, but it can happen anywhere. Reputable breeders always provide paperwork. If you are paying for a purebred, you should be getting one. So please do not take people on their word. Best to confirm their story first with the supposed breeder, especially if the seller doesn't offer to sign over the original AKC paperwork to you. Don't even trust other 'breeder proof' of sale (which could be falsified), but always confirm  their story before spending your money.
